What is the Overture?

Launched in October 2023, The Overture is a project under QDF’s visibility pillar that provides essential arts coverage for the Quebec English Theatre community. It aims to support this community in response to the significant decline in arts coverage, a trend observed on a national scale.

Each month, The Overture publishes two preview pieces that spotlight shows, projects, or festivals happening in that month. The first is a detailed editorial article, while the second is a Q&A collage piece, presented under The Overture: Stage Left. The productions featured in each edition are selected through a lottery system, open to QDF members two months in advance.
