General Information

  • A: QETS (Quebec English Theatre Showcase) is the Quebec Drama Federation's biggest public event of the year. It provides PACT/CAEA companies an opportunity to conduct joint general auditions and allows actors and designers to showcase their talents.

  • A: Actors (both CAEA and non-CAEA) and designers can register for QETS, provided they meet specific eligibility criteria.

  • All actors must have at least two acting credits on their CV (this can include productions from post secondary institutions like university or CEGEP). Registration is divided into categories with unique requirements for each.

Registration Categories

  • A: This year, participants can register in the following categories:

    1. Designers

    2. CAEA Actors (Emerging and Mid/Late Career)

    3. Non-CAEA Actors: Discovery Series

    4. Non-CAEA Actors: Open Call Day

designers

  • A: Designers can present their portfolio or respond to a provided design prompt to producers, artistic directors, and directors from PACT and CAEA professional companies. Presentations will include a brief Q&A session.

CAEA Actors

    • Emerging Artists:

      • For actors who have recently moved to Quebec (within the last 5 years) or achieved CAEA status.

      • Participants perform a monologue and a secondary artistic piece (2 minutes max each), followed by a brief interview.

    • Mid to Late Career Artists:

      • For actors with 5+ years in Quebec and at least two professional contracts with PACT companies.

      • Participants can opt for an interview to discuss their goals or audition if they wish.

non-CAEA Actors

  • A: This offering prioritizes and highlights equity-seeking actors (Black, Indigenous, Artists of Colour, LGBTQIA2S+, Neurodivergent, and Disabled artists, etc.). 10 non-CAEA actors are selected to audition alongside CAEA actors after submitting a monologue (2 minutes maximum) self-tape for review by the Discovery Series committee.

  • A: All submitted self-tapes will still be shared with directors for potential opportunities. The first 30 Non-CAEA registrants who are not selected for Discovery Series can participate in Open Call Day.

  • A: A chance for non-CAEA actors to audition for PACT and Indie theatre member companies. Registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis and does not require a self-tape. Participants perform a monologue and a secondary artistic piece (2 minutes max each) followed by a brief interview.

Eligibility

  • A: Yes, all actors must have at least two acting credits on their CV to participate in QETS.

  • A: Only 10 Non-CAEA actors will be selected by our Discovery Committee panel from their self tape submissions to audition for PACT/CAEA companies.

Audition Details

  • A:

    • CAEA Actors: A 2-minute max monologue and a 2-minute max secondary artistic piece.

    • Non-CAEA Actors: Similar requirements apply, depending on the category.

  • A: Any performance style showcasing your talents, such as singing, dancing, a second contrasting monologue, clown piece etc. Please keep this offering 2-minutes or under.

  • A: November 24th is the deadline for all registration and self tape submissions.
