CAEA ACTORS

CAEA ACTOR OPPORTUNITIES

If you are a CAEA (Canadian Actors’ Equity Association) actor who:

Has recently moved to Quebec

OR

Gained your Equity status in the last few years,

You will be automatically granted an opportunity for a live audition and brief interview with our panel of PACT (The Professional Association of Canadian Theatre) directors or professional companies that use Equity contracts.

If you are a CAEA (Canadian Actors Equity Association) actor who:

Consider yourself a mid to late career artist

AND

Have been based in Quebec for 5+ years

AND

Have worked at least 2 professional contracts with our PACT-producing companies.

You are welcome to sit with our panel of Artistic Directors in an interview/conversation - no audition required. Though it’s not required, we still encourage you to prepare a monologue or artistic offering, as this is also a chance for you to share your artistic goals and interests, allowing local directors to better understand how to collaborate with you.

  • Complete the registration form linked below (opening on November 3, 2025), where you'll also be asked to upload the following:

    • Your headshot

    • Your acting CV

    • A monologue (maximum 2 minutes)

    • *A second artistic offering (maximum 2 minutes) of your choice, such as a contrasting monologue, a song with accompaniment, a movement piece, etc.

*This is technically optional if you consider yourself a mid to late career artist, have been based in Quebec for 5+ years, and have worked at least 2 professional contracts with our PACT-producing companies.

  • Base Eligibility:

    • Must be 18 years or older

    CAEA Eligibility:

The Discovery Series

The Discovery Series will feature 10 selected artists who would most benefit from increased visibility and exposure. The aim is to elevate Quebec-based equity-seeking artists (including Black, Indigenous, Artists of Colour, LGBTQIA2S+, Neurodivergent, and Disabled artists, etc.) by providing a platform to connect with directors who might invest in their professional development moving forward.

Each artist will have a 10-minute slot to both audition (2 prepared pieces) for professional directors and have an opportunity to chat about your artistic interests.

  • THE DISCOVERY COMMITTEE

The Discovery Committee is made up of a small group of professional community members with diverse experiences and artistic backgrounds, primarily in directing. They are independent artists, unaffiliated with any one company or organization.

Their role is to identify the artists who would most benefit from the visibility of the Discovery Series platform. The committee seeks dynamic individuals who demonstrate artistic potential and talent, particularly those who may not have yet had the chance to showcase their abilities and personality to a group of professional theatre makers. This offering prioritizes and highlights equity-seeking actors (Black, Indigenous, Artists of Colour, LGBTQIA2S+, Neurodivergent, and Disabled artists, etc.) If you do not identify with any of these descriptions, we encourage you to apply directly for Open Call Day. If you have questions, please contact events@quebecdrama.org

open call day

Open Call Day will offer up to 30 audition slots to actors who are not CAEA members and have not applied or been selected for the Discovery Series.

The format will be the same as the Discovery Series: an audition followed by a brief chat with our panel of directors, both PACT and independent.

Slots for our Open Call Day are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, determined by the submission time of your initial registration form (not your self-tape).

Once these auditions have concluded, all submissions will be made available to all directors, regardless of whether you were able to be seen at this year’s auditions.

  • Complete the registration form linked below (opening on November 3, 2025) where you will also upload:

    • Your headshot

    • Your acting CV

If you wish to be considered for the Discovery Series (who are curated by our Discovery Committee and who are seen no matter when they registered) please submit a self tape with a slate and a monologue (maximum 2 minutes.). If you do not personally identify as equity priority (see above for examples) you do not have to submit a self tape.

Click here to see our tips on filming your self-tape!

    • The same monologue (maximum 2 minutes) you submitted as your self tape (if applicable).

    • A second artistic offering (maximum 2 minutes) of your choice (This is typically a contrasting monologue but can be a song with accompaniment, movement piece etc.).

    • Must be 18 years or older

    • All Discovery Series applicants must be Quebec-based to be considered.

    • Students currently enrolled in a recognized theatre program (JAC, Dawson, Concordia, Bishops or NTS)

    • Actors who are not seeking professional work
