The Ethical Magpie: A Playwright’s Approach to Research

In this training, award-winning writer, translator, and dramaturg Leanna Brodie guides theatre artists in rediscovering the art of analogue research. Designed for writers, dramaturges, adapters, and creators, the workshop challenges the limits of digital and AI-driven research practices. Participants will explore methods of accessing rich, reliable sources through libraries, museums, and artistic institutions to deepen their dramaturgy. By the end, artists will have strengthened their research skills and expanded their creative horizons through rigorous, hands-on inquiry.
