Give us an elevator pitch of your show.

A bold, fast-paced reimagining of Snow White with just two actors playing every role. Funny, inventive, and full of theatrical magic, it flips the fairy tale on its head—this Snow White is in charge of her own story.

What is your favourite part of this production?

The team, the process. My rule in the room is: best idea wins, and when you have a team like this there are so many good and really fun ideas.

Why is this show important for audiences to see right now?

This play is so complex in its simplicity. It tackles a lot in a short amount of time. But the thing that sticks out to me is the importance of young people knowing that they can tell their own story. They can take control of their narrative, whether that’s doing so in the present or taking on how their story is retold.

What has been this production’s greatest challenge?

This play is sneakily complex. The precision it takes to tell the clearest story possible with only two actors and a live musician is challenging. Being a story within a story just adds to the complexity and we are tackling it bit by bit.

How does this production align with your company’s mission or artistic vision?

Representation is at the core of what we do. It is nestled into the decision-making process when we program and it lives within the artists we decide to work with. This story is no different. Taking a classic story like this and turning it on its head is right up our alley. We want to make sure young people understand that they have a place, and this version of Snow White does exactly that.

BONUS QUESTION: What’s the funniest thing that’s happened during rehearsals/prep?

We have a large paper taped to the wall in the rehearsal hall where we write down all of the things we say that can be misread as “mature content” when read or spoken out of context.
