Give us an elevator pitch of your show.

"For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again" is a poignant and humorous tribute to Tremblay’s mother, a spirited and magnetic woman whose love of storytelling and sharp wit sparked his passion for literature and theatre. This deeply personal play reveals the special bond that helped shape Tremblay into the acclaimed artist he would become. Today, he is one of the most celebrated artists in Quebec and we are honoured to put this wonderful play of his in our newly renovated theatre.

Why is this play important for audiences to see right now?

It is a classic of Canadian/Quebec drama and now more than ever Canadian/Quebec audiences are craving these kinds of stories.

In a sentence, tell us about the vision or the message for this production.

This production brings together some of the brightest stars of the Montreal stage from both sides of the linguistic divide to tell a universal story of a mother's love for her son. Actors Ellen David and Emmanuel Schwartz are being guided by the luminary director Alice Ronfard, Michel Tremblay's closest current collaborator fresh off the success of "La traversée de siècle."

What has been this production’s greatest challenge?

The greatest challenge has been completing our 2-year renovation project of our larger theatre (C2) in time for the premiere. We are thrilled to be re-opening the theatre with this incredible play.

How does this production align with your company’s mission or artistic vision?

The production aligns with our artistic mission of producing top-quality theatrical work in English that trains a fresh lens on the experience of being human, fostering an expansive spirit in audiences and artists alike.

How does this show fit into the broader season or future plans for your company?

Our 2024-25 season theme is "Coming Home to Centaur" - all the plays in our subscription series this year have featured themes of coming home to someone or something, and what better way to end the season than with this touching and heartfelt play of mothers and sons.
